THE GLOBAL CONNECTION
BRAND...
is how people recognize you. You may be a company known for a big red bull's-eye
or a humanitarian rock start who wears dark glasses - both have a brand that people
instantly recognize. Take a step back and think about what people have said about
you in the past and take advantage of it. Good or bad, it is your opportunity to
take what you learn through this process and build your brand. If you gave three
references to a company, would they consistently say the same positive thing about
you? If so, that is part of your brand. Are there people you volunteer with on a
regular basis? That is part of your brand as well. Always be conscious of the fact
that every time you interact with someone, you are building a brand that you will be
known for in the future.
COMPANIES
A crucial mistake companies make is not looking to the outside for inspiration. This
is incredibly difficult to do when things are going well, but critical to the future
of your business. There are numerous companies who are leaders in their particular
industry while very little is known about them in the general public. Take advantage
of positive momentum and build on it. Start a college relations program with universities
and educate students on how you could be their employer of choice. Develop an internal
referral program to encourage employees to refer others to learn about the great things
happening at your company.
When your sales representatives attend a trade show, bring someone from human resources
along who is able to sell the great story of your company; what better opportunity to
recruit people from your same industry! Not currently recruiting? Don't loose site of
the importance of constantly building a positive brand and image in the marketplace.
Numerous professional associations and networking groups are not only excited about new
corporate members who want to share their expertise,
but also of future job opportunities you will bring to their members.
CANDIDATES
How do you manage your personal brand? If someone had the opportunity to write a story about you as a professional, what would they say?
Would they talk about your positive attitude? The way you handle difficult situations? Your ability to adapt to change? Decide on how you want to be perceived by others and work on creating your own personal brand. Ask collogues and clients to write recommendations or references for you. Take time to look at everything you have done and capitalize on those things that make you stand out above the rest.
Everyone says they have great people skills, but can you prove you do?
Many people say they do public speaking, but can you stand up in front of an auditorium full of people and present something worthwhile to your peers? Some people say they are the leaders in their industry, but can you prove you are? There is so much competition for really good opportunities, concentrate on making your brand stick. Be known for a positive attitude and flexibility and you will continually see opportunities within your business. Whenever possible, offer to help and lend a hand to others who need it - be approachable. Great leaders are the people who inspire others to give 150% and give them the support to make their goals a reality.
RECRUITERS
It is no secret that the recruiting industry in general does not have a positive brand or image. Unfortunately some "bad apples" have tainted our industry. It all comes down to customer service. Take the time to get to know your customer and inform them of exactly the service they will be receiving during the process. Educate them on what you need from the partnership to be successful, and contrary to popular belief, it's not just money! Yes, recruiting is a service and like all services, you have to pay for it, but money shouldn't be the only thing that motivates a recruiter to succeed. Repeat business is the best form of flattery. When a company asks for references, be cognizant of the fact that they won't only be looking for someone who recently used your services; they will want to talk to someone who has utilized your services multiple times. Always communicate. Good, bad or indifferent, if you tell a client what is going on during their search, they will always respect you for being honest and will most likely become part of the solution to improve the situation. Remember, people work with recruiters because the circumstances they are involved in require it - be a positive part of their solution and rebuild the brand in the marketplace!
FEATURED PROCESS - VOLUME RECRUITING
We have been extremely successful working with clients because we believe that one recruitment process does not fit every organization.
Volume Recruiting takes into consideration how many positions a client is looking for and works around those numbers to develop a specific process to address them. Done on a project or continuous basis, this option offers companies the traditional search process but at a much more reasonable rate. The process can be utilized for virtually any type of project where there are multiple job openings that need to be
addressed. Clients favor this process because it is purposely
streamlined for consistency so it can be utilized throughout an organization. Candidates like this option because they are treated as an individual but are still involved in a unique, "big picture" process.
